It takes each and every person in the office to work as a team to provide the warm welcome, smiling faces, caring attitudes, attention and results that you will get on a regular basis when visiting their office.

They have done more to improve my health issues (fibromyalgia, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, hypothyroidism, food sensitivities) in the past two years than 21 other doctors were able to collectively do over the past five years!

This has been accomplished by frequent communication with the doctors, regular adjustments, various therapies, and weekly massages, which have made a WORLD of difference for me!

In addition, I love their holistic approach to medical issues whenever possible, as opposed to giving you another drug to take!!!

It has made me want to continue on that path and take more control over my own health issues. I found myself working hard to eat better, drink plenty of water, and start exercising to become healthier. As a result, with the help of a metabolic program, I lost nearly 60 lbs. in 6 months. That was a huge part of my success. :)

Hypothyroid and lost 20 pounds

This week I began my journey back to school.  I had asked you for information on schools for nutrition in previous emails.  I decided to enroll at the Integretative Institute for Nutrition in New York.  I will receive certificates from them and the State University of New York – Purchase College next September.  I will be a certified Health Coach. Yea!!  I would not be embarking on this journey had I not stepped into your office in July 2010.  I didn’t realize how much diet impacted my autoimmune disease.  As I learned more about gluten and its affects, the more I craved to learn about it. Much of the information I read was confusing and conflicting, however I was determined to get it right.  I have lost almost 20 pounds and my thyroid medicine has been reduced from 112 mcg to 88 mcg.  My next blood test is next week.  I am hoping it will even go down further.
I am excited to be going to school and feel like my life’s going in the right direction.  Thank you for all that you do.  I wouldn’t be doing what I am without your help.

Lose Weight by Getting Healthy!

I have been extremely sucessful in losing weight on a gluten free diet.  It was a huge adjustment but as you promised if I gave it until February I would feel much better.  Well, it is March and let’s just say I feel great.  I have lost 14 lbs. since last August.  My last Thyroid screen was at 1.87.  When you tested me is July it was 2.5. 
 
First, I want to say thank you.  I put my trust in you which was not easy after so many doctors had failed me.  I knew in my gut their was more going on in my body and their explainations and remedies didn’t solve my problems. 
 
Second, thank you to your staff and Dr Barbian.  They made me feel welcome and I was able to focus on me for the first time.  They are a great support group.
 
Lastly, I wish I could say this was easy, but it wasn’t.  Mostly because there is a lot of resistance from so many people due to their lack of knowledge, cost of the treatment, food and supplements but I know now it was well worth it.  I am doing my best to educate others and to get my story heard.  People have noticed the results and tell me how great I look so that helps others to believe it does work.   I just wish all internal medicine doctors and general practitioners knew more about the nutritional aspects and benefits.  My mom died of lung cancer.  In an interview with the Daily Herald, she told them that if her doctor told her smoking was bad for her when she asked him  in the 1960′s she would have quit.  She felt let down by her doctor, thank you for giving me faith again.

Hi Dr. Serpe !
       I had my blood drawn at my Rheumatologist office on this past Monday.  My WHITE CELL Count had a great change !  I just found out the results . . . . it was   4.5   !  !  !  Last time is was     . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.8

My White Cell count has been  = or  < than 3.6  for the past 17 years at least !

He wants to raise my Methotrexate from 3 tablets to 4 tablets and gradually try to get me up to 6 tablets to help my RA joint stiffness & pain.
We have been watching my WC count closely for a long time.  This is HUGE !

I was just at Barnes & Noble today & read something in a “Gluten Book” about how a Gluten Free diet can have many positive effects on so many
Auto-immune  diseases. RA, being one of them.

I guess my poor body has been so busy “fighting itself against the Gluten” that now that it doesn’t have to do that, my WC count. can recover to a normal level
to be ready to fight an illness when I need it.   I Love it  !

I also had to tell you that last night (Wed.), John & I went to our 1st Yoga for Beginners Class.  I did what I could & this morning my low back was
quite sore and my Left neck & shoulder.  (Ice pack last night & heating pad this morning).  After a hot shower & more moving around today – I feel so much better !

I was afraid that my muscles would be REALLY BAD today !   Not the case !   It was a true test of my Fibro being in remission  !
