Are you sick and tired of being tired? Frustrated with the lack of real help offered by institutional medicine? Have doctor’s stopped listening to your requests for help?
I have had the pleasure of working with many patients who’s main complaint is chronic fatigue. It seems that they are usually offered antidepressant’s or sleep medication, as if the problem is only in their head or due to a lack of proper rest at night.
You tell me…Was there a fundamental shift in your health at some point in your life?
Think back to a time when you had your health and energy. I find that there is usually a pivotal point when all that changed and fatigue started taking over. Sometimes it’s hard to remember when you had energy, got a good night’s sleep and woke up feeling ready to take on the day but at one point you had your health and control of your life. Not like now.
So how do you get that back? Covering up the symptoms certainly isn’t the answer. How does that restore your body and mind to a healthy state?
We have to look deeper. And, we need a structured plan to overcome the reason behind the fatigue.
Here’s how we successfully approach chronic fatigue. This diagram shows how addressing neurologic, structural and metabolic issue at the same time allows us to identify problems and create an organized plan for fixing what we find.
Chronic fatigue can be a tricky condition that requires much more than patching up the symptoms with medications or simple tests that you’ve received from institutional medicine.
Our journey starts by gathering information and taking a through history. Asking the right questions can go a long way to discovering where to look. Next, we need to perform a functional examination that takes into account structural stress and neurologic health. Why structure? Ever look at a person who is depressed? What is their body language? Slumped, head down, shoulders rolled inward. How about a person who is full of energy and happy? Shoulders back, head up, chest out, etc.
You get the picture…structural and body alignment are a window into function and a potential means to helping correct the fatigue problem.
Poor body alignment and muscle tension are energy drainers. That’s just one area to look when unraveling the chronic fatigue mystery.
After gathering all this information we may need to run specialty tests that tell us how your metabolism is working. You can learn more by reading about “What makes us different”.
